Creating Awareness of the Plight of Children with Cancer

Singapore, 30 July 2016 – Nine-year-old Boon Kye Feng was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukaemia in 2012. He underwent two bone marrow transplants and suffered a cancer relapse in 2014. Inspired by one of his best friends, a childhood cancer survivor, who had shaved in 2014 and 2015 to encourage Kye Feng during his relapse, Kye Feng decided to shave his head for the first time for Hair for Hope (HfH) this year.

Ken Foong Kai Jun was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in 2008 and suffered a relapse in 2012. With his cancer in remission today, the ten-year-old wishes to bring hope to all children currently battling the illness by shaving for the first time at Children’s Cancer Foundation’s (CCF) Hair for Hope (HfH) - an annual event aimed at raising public awareness of the plight of children with cancer and their families. Gracing this year's event is Ms Grace Fu, Minister, Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.
